Conducting research and experimentation on thriving in a digital economy
What they do
The MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy (IDE) represents a team of thought leaders and researchers examining how people and businesses work, interact, and prosper in a time of rapid digital transformation. As a part of the MIT Sloan School of Management, the IDE conducts research and education on the digital economy and seeks out and supports practical solutions to economic shifts.
The MIT Inclusive Innovation Challenge (IIC), launched by the MIT IDE in 2016, is MIT’s premier future of work prize, awarding more than 1 million dollars annually to entrepreneurial organizations solving a grand challenge of our time— “how do we harness technology to create more broadly shared prosperity and increased economic opportunity for workers world wide?”
How we're helping
As part of our support for the IDE, Google.org is backing the Inclusive Innovation Competition, a challenge for entrepreneurs around the world to use technology to reinvent the future of work. Through this tournament, the IDE will be seeking out and funding social innovators experimenting with new ways of helping people develop the skills they need for the digital economy and connect to job opportunities in a new way.
