Snow continuing across much of Northern Colorado this afternoon.

A storm system now over Northwest Colorado will move Southeast across the state through tonight. Snow is widespread over much of the area this afternoon and will be heavy at times through early evening. The Heaviest Snow has shifted south over the Boulder and Denver area this afternoon with lighter snow further north and east. Snowfall rates up to 2 inches per hour are possible in the heaviest snow. Since the snow is expected into the evening hours, expect road surfaces to become more icy and Snowpacked resulting in dangerous driving conditions.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 pm MDT this evening.

  • Timing: snow will continue through today. But should start to decrease by early evening.
  • Snow accumulations: 20 to 34 inches in the mountains and foothills of Larimer County, heaviest along East facing slopes. Storm totals of 12 to 16 inches can be expected over eastern Larimer and Northwest Weld counties.
  • Visibility: snow will reduce visibilities to less than one half of a mile at times.
  • Impacts: roads will be icy and Snowpacked today in the heavier Snow, creating hazardous driving conditions. There may also be scattered power outages with areas of the heavy snow.

Recommended actions
