Helping freelance workers achieve economic independence

What they do

As new platforms have lowered the barriers to entry for independent and “gig” work, new tools are needed to help low-income jobseekers navigate this new world of work in service of achieving economic independence. New freelancers often struggle to develop digital brands, budget for taxes, and pay unexpected expenses. Samaschool’s online and offline resources help independent workers advance their careers and better manage their income.

How we're helping

With support from, Samaschool is developing a new blended learning solution that walks independent workers through the basics of finding freelance work, building their careers, managing contracts and taxes, and more. Samaschool is partnering with workforce development agencies and nonprofit groups around the country to expand their reach and build a deeper understanding of low-income gig workers’ specific needs.
