Immediate relief support to people in Texas and Gulf Coast affected by Hurricane Harvey
What they do
The American Red Cross has been mobilizing the power of volunteers and donors to alleviate suffering after emergencies and disasters for over 130 years. On a yearly basis, the American Red Cross responds to roughly 64,000 disasters, seeing first-hand the complexities of responding to disasters and developing deep expertise on what it takes to mobilize quickly.
How we're helping
Google.org initially granted the American Red Cross $250,000 to support immediate disaster relief and launched an employee matching campaign, through which Google matched over $100,000 in donations to ARC. To further bolster the American Red Cross’ work, we launched a matching campaign on the Google homepage, where Google matched an additional $1 million of the $1.3 million donated by the public.
