Free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere
Only a small proportion of the world’s population is deeply educated. Worldwide, 88% of primary school students graduate from primary school. In the United States, only 16 out of 20 students that enter high school graduate on time. These completion statistics get worse as students move on towards higher education.
The $2 million Global Impact Award will help Khan Academy to develop a learning challenge where students compete for themselves and their schools. The pilot will start with a math challenge located in the San Francisco Bay Area, with plans for nationwide scale in the coming years.
The learning experiences and programs will strengthen students’ academic skills, develop their critical learning characteristics like grit and growth, and do it all at no cost to the students, parents or teachers. Khan Academy will be able to reach even more students around the world, especially those that have historically been in educationally underserved environments.
