Winter Storm today to produce Blizzard like conditions.

A low pressure system over Kentucky will track into the Appalachians this evening and the East Coast Thursday. Strong winds along with heavy snow will hit central Indiana.

Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 7 pm EST this evening.

  • Impacts: 6 to 14 inches of snow. Winds gusting 35 to 40 mph. Travel will remain difficult. White out conditions will be possible. Slow improvement in visibility as snow intensity lightens up through the afternoon hours.
  • Timing: snow will slowly taper off from south to north and west to east through the afternoon hours.
  • Wind Chill values: teens.

Recommended actions

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to Whiteout conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
