Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 3 pm CST this afternoon.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow remains in effect until 3 pm CST this afternoon.

  • Timing: snow will continue through this afternoon. The snow will gradually diminish by this afternoon.
  • Snow accumulations: The Heaviest accumulations have already occurred. And through the afternoon an additional 1-3 inches is expected. With the higher amounts across northeastern Kansas and parts of northwestern Missouri. Overall with this storm. Widespread amounts of at least 6 to 10 inches are expected through the warning area. Heavier amounts of up to 12 inches are expected from the south Kansas City Metro northeastward through North Central Missouri.
  • Impacts: strong Northerly winds up to 30 mph, combined with moderate snowfall may lead to areas of reduced visibility and drifting of snow. Also. Due to the heavy. Wet nature of the snow. Power outages are possible due to snow laden branches falling on power lines.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only Travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight. Food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
